Eat More Chicken!

We just bought some Chicken in bulk – 40 pounds! I won’t tell you how much we paid, you would be jealous!

We, I mean Jason, divided the chicken into 37 portions (each serves 2). My job was to label the bags.

deercampjan 043 I am so thankful for our new FoodSaver, thanks Mom!

Claudia’s Mouth

Claudia had a little accident at our neighbors house today. This picture is for my mom to look at so she can tell me what she thinks.

Marley at Hunting Camp

Jason took Marley to Hunting Camp yesterday for the last day of deer season. She was so excited to go! She shot her BB Gun and sat in the deer stand with her daddy. She even called up a doe with the deer caller (but that was this morning and the season is over).

deercampjan 003 Making her daddy proud! Jason told her that she could have the BB gun. He said she smiled from ear to ear!

In the deer stand that she helped paint (we painted the inside with chalkboard paint over the summer).

Allergy

I started allergy shots at age 6 and got them weekly until I graduated high school. Until recently, I only had to take an allergy pill every so often. Well, things changed over the last few months. I don’t know what I am reacting too, but this is what happens if I don’t take an allergy pill every day:

Welts on my back:

Bumps on arm:

The itching drives me crazy! I have a feeling that it could be one of two things: a reaction to my medicine or our new hardwood floors.

A New Year

2009 brought many changes and many blessings. I started the year off sick, and my main goal for the year was to get healthier. I changed my diet, went on new medication, paid off all our credit card debt, started to exercise regularly, made a decision about my future (career), and focused on being a better role model for the girls. Wow that was a busy year!

I think that I learned the most in the last month of 2009. Since it was the holiday season, I really let my diet slip. I ate breads (white) and just too many sweet things. I learned that although certain foods tasted good in my mouth for just a few moments, they made me feel horrible for several hours. I couldn’t even sleep good on Thanksgiving because I felt so bad from the food I ate. Is food really worth feeling bad over?  I know, easier said than done!

I also learned that raw vegetables, white bread, and too much dairy are not my friend. They do nothing good for me, in fact, they just make me sick! So I will stay away from them this year!

Because I strayed from my diet during the last month, I wanted to end the year and start the year off right.

This was my New Year’s Eve dinner:

(an organic steak, grilled shrimp, stemmed broccoli, mixed grains)

And this way my New Year’s Day Breakfast:

nye09 026

(steel cut oats with greek yogurt & flax seed, with a green drink: organic sprouts, romaine, celery, cucumber, and ginger). PS: ginger is my new best friend – love it!

I also went to the market yesterday to load up on good stuff and came home with this:

And my freezer just got filled with this:

That is 25 pounds of deer meat. Hormone/antibiotic free, lean meat that was processed by Jason. Doesn’t get much better than this!

Happy New Year!
