Get back on the train

It’s time to get back on the train! I have been eating bad since Thanksgiving – 50% healthy/50% junk and I’m over it! I am officially ready to get back on board with 90% healthy/10% junk. I would even settle for 80/20!

I started my day as usual with a Luna Bar:

I have tried eating oatmeal for breakfast, but always go back to these bars. Eventually, I would like to start eating oatmeal again and ditch the bars for good.

The girls and I had lunch at Whole Foods. I had a super foods salad and topped it with tofu and quinoa. I also had a shot of wheat grass:

After our shopping trip I came home and made a juice:

For dinner I had salmon, broccoli and a baked potato (this girl has to have her carbs):

For dessert I had a homemade granola bar:

Overall I think I did pretty good for my first day back on the train!

Off to take care of Jason, he’s sick.

Lots of gifts!

We had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed spending time with family, eating, and of course (the girl’s favorite) opening gifts!

Marley’s:

Poor daddy, he got gifts too, but we forgot to take a picture!

Decorating for Christmas

I am not a big decorator, I guess it’s because I am just not that good at it – plus, less is more – right? Or is it, less is less expensive?

Anyway, here is my Christmas decor, compliments of bad pictures (sorry):

I let the girls decorate the tree again this year. They really enjoy putting all the ornaments on and I enjoy watching!

holiday 009

The runner on my coffee table was my grandmothers, I guess you could say it is vintage.

This is my favorite, I had the girls make it a few years ago:

Entry table. I made the coffee filter tree this year, it turned out ok.

And for the first time, we have mistletoe!

holiday 031

Yes, that is it – all my Christmas decorations. I know it is not a lot, but we have been lighting candles, building fires, playing Christmas music, and kissing under the mistletoe – who could ask for anything more!

How I got rid of a cold in 4 days!

When I got a cold last week, I knew I had to act fast.

I did two things:

1. Olive Leaf Extract – one a day

santa 010

Olive leaf is commonly used to fight colds and flu, and other viral infections.

2. Ginger Tea (straight ginger and hot water) 2-3 times a day

Ginger has a high content of antioxidants. It acts as a natural antihistamine and a mild decongestant, it can also soothe a sore throat.

Yummy - All better now!

Christmas Cards

We took some pictures a few weeks ago for our Christmas card, but we didn’t get “the one”:

Blank faces:

familyphoto 036

Wrong pose and funny smiles:

familyphoto 032

Bad lighting, turned it to black and white. Almost “the one”:

Debated using just the girls:

But I really like our card to have all 4 of us, it fun to look back and see how we have changed:

I finally decided on this picture, but had to crop it because you can see the smoke from the turkey that was being deep fried nearby:

(the smoke is at the bottom right half)

Now I just have to finish addressing all of them!

Jason’s Birthday

We celebrated Jason’s birthday this weekend.

On Thursday we went out to eat at Taco Mac. On Friday, (his actual birthday) we stayed home and enjoyed a nice dinner and cake:
