Finally, A Granola Bar!

I have been trying to make my own granola bars and have had problems finding the right recipe. The problem is with the glue (usually peanut butter and honey), I guess I just didn’t have the amounts right.

On my fourth try (and 4th recipe), I finally ended up with granola bars instead of just granola. I was so excited, and they tasted so good! Jason loved them too.

Cheering Up!

The check is in the mail and I am so over my sadness!  It was easy, really – this week was teacher appreciation week at preschool and our two year program.

Here is our class t-shirt (I was so nervous about them, but they turned out really cute):

Art Work display that the kids stood in front of to sing:

Just watching them sing would cheer anyone up!

On Tuesday, each child brought in a flower or two:

And today we got a bag full of snacks:

So my sweet little two year olds cheered me up and made me smile today – I just love them so much!

Feeling Sad

I am feeling very sad today. In fact, I cried. Why?

Because of this:

A nearly 1,300 dollar bill for one month of my medicine. Long story short, I owe this amount.

Oh well, I didn’t really need new counter tops for our kitchen anyway!

Back to School

What does one do with a degree in Urban Studies and hasn’t worked in 8 years (and can’t get a job)? They go back to school!

It’s official, I am a college student again! I even have a student id!

I started at Lanier Tech this quarter and am enrolled in the Medical Assistant Program. I will finish next August. I am currently taking these two classes:

I am not used to studying and going to class is strange (although I was not the oldest in my class). Here I am studying:

Hopefully I will do well in all my classes!

Easter

The girls loved dying eggs. The dye looked great on the eggs, but not so great on our hands! Oh well, I guess that is part of the fun.

We took a nice family photo before lunch. I did not buy the girls new Easter dresses this year. I think they were getting tired of wearing matching frilly dresses! I let them pick out what they wanted to wear from the Russell Collection, and they were very happy.

GG and Grampees:

We have never been able to get a shot of all the kids looking. I think we are getting there. By next year we should have the perfect shot!

The girls got so messy from lunch earlier, I let them pick out outfit #2 for Nannies.

Maya and Georgia (we were dog sitting for Jason):

Now, what to do with all the candy?? I think we have more now than we did at Halloween!

Claudia is 6!

I can’t believe it has been six years since this happened:

Now she is a big girl:

We had a small birthday party at our house followed by dinner out at Sun Garden (her choice).

The girls enjoyed singing Hannah Montana songs:CLaudia's birthday 028

Claudia asked for and got her very own electric scooter!  Watch out neighbors – here she comes!CLaudia's birthday 035

Jason told Claudia he wanted her to stay 6 forever!  She said “dad, I can only stay 6 for one year"  - smart girl!

Hiking

BK (Before Kids), Jason and I would go backpacking every Easter weekend. We have been wanting to start the tradition with the girls, but day hikes only for now!

Here are two old school hiking pictures:

On Friday, we took the girls on their first real mountain hike -  5 miles! They did really good. We had a few drama moments, but we pushed through and ended the hike with everyone in a good mood! The girls were rewarded with funnel cake in Helen. Jason and I had boiled peanuts.
