Both girls rocked field day this year. So proud of them - they are really starting to show some athletic abilities!

Busy

It’s been Crazy-Busy around here and will continue to be till Friday. Just your typical end of the year stuff. but throw in a test, a mid-term, and a paper and BAM – you’ve got Crazy-Busy!

My mother’s day outing was in Athens on Saturday. We went to the Athens Farmer’s Market (we would love to live in Athens one day).

Mostly greens for sale, which we are growing too, so we did not buy a lot of produce. The girl learned to make these planters out of newspaper and they are currently sprouting an onion.

We bought some tomato plants, two burger patties, a gallon of milk from Johntson’s Diary Farm (we have had this milk in the past and it is awesome – makes drinking milk from the grocery store taste like water), lettuce that tastes like a granny smith apple, freshly milled polenta, and a bar of ginger soap.

We had lunch afterwards and a quick trip to Earthfare – which is a grocery store like Whole Foods, but smaller and better!

On Sunday morning, I hung out with these guys in bed:

Then had lunch with my mom:

Growing

We got many things growing around the Russell house.

Our Garden is in full swing. We have spinach, chard, red lettuce, butter crunch lettuce, parsley, and tomatoes.  We will replace the lettuce with peppers once the lettuce stops producing.

What’s this you may ask? I know it looks like a log with mushrooms. And it is! Jason is growing Shiitake Mushrooms on a log. This will be interesting!

Here is something else interesting:

I have begun the process of growing my own wheatgrass. This is a picture of the sprouted wheat berries. Hopefully it will start growing green grass soon!
