things change in an instant

Today, I was supposed to wake up early and head to the beach with my mom and girls. We have had the trip planned since January. We first booked a condo in Gulf Shores. Once the oil hit, we cancelled and luckily got our money back. We rebooked a trip to Amelia Island and had to cancel it the day before we left (yesterday). Life can change in an instant. One minute you are packing for the beach, and the next minute, you get a call that your mom is in the ER with Congestive Heart Failure. Scary stuff. Our trip just wasn’t meant to be.

I am so thankful that my mom knew to go to the hospital. I am so thankful that this happened before we got on the road and not while we were at the beach far away from home. My heart aches for my mother right now. I hope and pray that everything works out and that she can live a long, healthy, happy life.

We woke up this morning and decided we needed to get out of the house, so we went to a waterfall in the mountains.

Always gotta have peanuts for a ride through the mountains:

We stopped at a country store/farm and hung out for a little while. Got some goodies and walked around.

One of Jason’s employees and friend is working at the Athens Y camp as a counselor for the summer. We decided to stop by and surprise him. We all love Zach. He has a heart of gold and is one of the nicest/genuine guys you would ever meet. The girls gave him a few silly bands and money to spend at the camp store.

We ended the day with a trip to the pool and we are now just chillin on the back porch. Ended the weekend on a positive note. Now we will wait to see what the doctors have to say about mom this week. Our fingers are crossed. I really want her to stick around for awhile! I hope and pray that she will be ok. Please pray for her too!

Swimming

The girls love going to the pool. I try to take them every other day.  I finally took some pictures of them swimming last night.

Haircut

I got a new haircut yesterday – nothing drastic, but it feels so good to get the dead ends off.

The start of my week was pretty rough, so I got a pedi too:

Father’s Day

We had a really nice Father’s Day.

We went to Church in the morning, had lunch at home, then took naps in the early afternoon. Went to Jason’s parents house for ice cream cake (yummy), then my parent’s for a cookout.

Green Thumb - Wheatgrass

I do not have a green thumb. I just can’t seem to keep anything alive indoors. Our garden is thriving – but that’s cause of Jason’s green thumb. When I decided to try growing wheatgrass, I was nervous that I would mess something up. But I followed the directions to a T and  was very surprised when my wheatgrass grew.

Started with seeds:

Once my seeds sprouted, I planted them:

Look – it is starting to grow:

My grass turned green and continued to grow:

I was so excited that I didn’t mess anything up! My wheatgrass juice tasted so good! But this big try was too much for me to use up in a week (next time I will use less seeds and a smaller try). It is a process that takes about 7-10 days and the grass most be tended to daily – but I did it!

Camping

Last weekend, we went camping at the lake. We had a very relaxing trip and the weather was perfect.

Everyone fished:
