11 Years

Today is our 11 year anniversary. Since we celebrated early in the week, we enjoyed a laid back day. We went to Waffle House for breakfast and then came home to be a little lazy, do some house work and have some play dates.

We went to Buckhead Pizza Company for dinner, had some frozen yogurt for dessert, and then ended the evening looking for deer.

A Trip for Two

A few years ago, Jason and I talked about doing something big for our 10 year anniversary. We specifically dreamed about going away on a big trip. Well, the day came and went and we didn’t go on a big trip. Then, this last December, we were planning a trip to go snow skiing. At the last minute we decided not to go  - we were feeling guilty about spending money and time on ourselves!

Tomorrow is our 11 year anniversary and this time we followed through with our plans. We were able to spend two days together on a houseboat for very little money. We had a blast and did not even feel guilty about it!

Who could argue that investing in your marriage is a bad thing? Who could argue that spending time away from your kids is wrong? In fact, our girls were excited that we went away. Marley said we are “love birds”.

Investing in our marriage makes us a stronger couple and makes us a stronger family. I want our girls to grow up knowing that relationships are real. That marriage is not just two people going through the motions. It is about love, support, respect and fun.

Family Picture

Jason suggested we take a family photo this morning before heading out to church. I thought it would be fun to post a photo from last year (exactly a year ago today) to compare how we have changed.

This week’s Produce

We got another delivery of produce this week.

The trick is to find a way to use the produce so you don’t waste any. I like to eat the lettuce first and save the potatoes for later in the week (since they keep longer). Jason and I agreed that we would try this service out and then determine if it is a good value for us. Well, I hope he likes it as much as I do. All the produce is organic, so it would be cheaper to go buy this same produce non-organic at the store. The problem is: this produce (and other organic produce) taste soooo good.

I used to think you could not  taste the difference between organic produce and non-organic produce, but after eating mostly organic for the last year, I can now taste the difference.

I have been trying to be creative with the produce. For lunch yesterday I had this:

Peach/yogurt/granola and a salad using chickpeas, cauliflower, and peppers over a bed of spinach – oh so good!

Claudia’s Broken Arm

Jason took the girls to a Gwinnett Braves game last night.

You see the tall red slide on the left side of this picture? Well, that is the slide that Claudia took a “rumble tumble” down and broke her arm. Claudia is such a tough girl, she didn’t even cry!

She will get another X-ray next week to make sure it is healing good. She will have to wear a sling for about a month. The doctor said that they usually don’t put casts on upper arm breaks, and wearing a sling is standard treatment.

Poor Claudia!
