My Birthday
I really didn’t want to draw too much attention to my birthday, but having two excited girls, makes it hard!
I started the day early, I had a 9:20 doctors appointment in Atlanta (I left at 8:00 to ensure I would arrive on time). I made it in 1 hour and I was in and out of the doctors office - back in my car by 9:20 – I felt lucky!
Since I was only miles from Your Dekalb Farmer’s Market, I had to go and do a little shopping:
Once home, these arrived:
So sweet and I was so surprised!
This is what I got for my birthday:
We went out to eat Mexican for dinner:
Came back and had a Gluten free cupcake I purchased at Whole Foods the day before:
It was an awesome birthday!

Marley’s Lunch
I did pretty good with Marley’s lunch last week. She brought it 4 out of 5 days. She talked me in to letting her get home style chicken nuggets on Friday and promised me to eat at least one healthy thing!
Here is a typical lunch that I pack for Marley – healthier then her brownie/chocolate milk lunch from the school lunch line!
Claudia always eats a good lunch at school, but I packed her one from home anyway.

Purple Glasses
Marley is one happy camper – she got glasses! But only to be used for reading. The doctor said her vision is like a 40 year olds and she was prescribed reading glasses +1.25. She will also need to go to vision therapy to help strength her focus, possibly reducing her need for the glasses. But until then, she will wear her purple glasses:

Breakfast
Over the last two years, I have transitioned the girls away from eating Fruit Loops and Pop tarts for breakfast. In fact, they don’t even ask for either anymore!!! They now eat Cheerios, homemade muffins, and sometimes eggs.
But Claudia’s still loves cereal bars (I buy her the Kashi brand). I really wanted to make her some from scratch. The first batch failed! She did not like the cinnamon taste or the blueberry jam. It took me 3 tries to perfect the granola bar recipes, so I will keep trying!
On the left is the bars, the middle is peanut butter muffins, and on the right is granola bars (needing to be cut).
Close up of the cereal bars:
I was addicted to eating a Luna Bar every morning (they are so expensive - $1.00 a bar). Now I eat a homemade granola bar with fruit, homemade almond muffin, or this:
It’s a breakfast cookie made with: oats, peanut butter, mashed banana, splash of milk and cinnamon – very filling!

Marley’s Birthday
I can’t believe Marley is 9! She had a great birthday.
Friday night her friend from school came over to spend the night. We went to Burger King for dinner, then went ice skating – they had a blast!
Small party at home on Saturday:
We got to hang out with lots of cousins this weekend too:
Birthday Girl with too much lip gloss on!

The Girl that won’t Eat
I took ice cream to school today for Marley’s birthday. I was not surprised to see what Marley actually ate for lunch. A brownie, chocolate milk, and chocolate ice cream. Not a healthy lunch! Oh, and her lunch cost $1.75 - I think I can pack a healthier, cheaper lunch. So next week, I am going to budget $8.75 for Marley’s healthier packed lunch and see if I can get her to eat a little more.
No wonder she hasn’t even hit 50 pounds yet – The Girl Won’t Eat!
